Hip and Glute Pain Stretches

Stretch Series for Hip and Glute Pain

Hip and glute pain has to be, hands down, the most common dysfunction I see in clinic.  It does not discriminate; it can be seen across all genders and ages.  I see it most frequently in pregnant women, athletes, elderly patients, clients who have been in a motor vehicle accident, and individuals who work a sedentary job.  However, it can affect anyone at any time throughout their lives for myriad reasons.

While the cause of hip and glute pain varies from one client to another, the treatments are almost always the same; balance out the muscles on all sides of the hip, treat muscle spasm and trigger points, and deploy proper ergonomics and posture.  With the exception of a neurlogical cause (as is the case of bulging/herniated discs, nerve inflammation or nerve lesion), massage therapy combined with stretching can be incredibly effective at managing or resolving your hip and glute pain.

With that in mind, I have created a video that demonstrates my favorite hip stretches.  As a visual learner myself, I find watching examples easiest to apply to my own situation.

I show you how to do the stretches correctly in order to maximize their effectiveness and protect your joints.

This was my first attempt at filming myself using a remote.  It was a fun and enlightening experience for me, and I am most certainly a rookie.  Be sure to stay tuned all the way through to the end to see the blooper reel!

As everyone’s personal condition and circumstance is different, I encourage you to talk with your primary health care provider before performing any stretches or physical activity routine to make sure that it is right for you.

If you have any questions about me, my work or the stretches I demonstrate in this video, please don’t hesitate to contact me.  You can also leave questions and constructive feedback about these stretches in the comment section below.
